Bio
Luísa Ramires (Coimbra, 1994) lives and works in Lisbon, Portugal. Focusing her practice within the digital realm, Luísa’s work combines techniques both manual and digital through screen printing on textiles, digital manipulation and drawing. Through the lens of our fast-paced technological society, Luísa looks at the geologic passivity of place. She pays close attention to the stories of different locations and their relationships, what they say about themselves, us, and each other. This often translates to large installations where people delve, wander and question how we occupy and live in our shared space.
Since 2016 she has collaborated with the National Museum Machado de Castro and Alzheimer Portugal with the exhibition “Drawing Time - The Clock Drawing Test”. She has also exhibited in institutions such as Convento do Carmo in Lisbon and Casa das Histórias in Cascais.
She was a finalist in several competitions receiving an honorable mention in the Jov’arte Bienal of Loures (2021) and the prize of Painting at the D. Fernando II award (2024).
Luísa Ramires regularly participates in artistic residencies, among which are "Bienale du Lin de Portneuf" in Quebec, Canada in partnership with Contextile Bienal (2023), “Risco” at Alfaia, Loulé, Algarve (2024), Kunstraum LLC, New York, USA (2024) and Mothership, New York, USA (2024).
She is present in several publications, such as FITA Magazine Vol. II (2021) and Portuguese Emerging Artists, Emerge (2024).
Luísa’s work is represented in permanent collections of the municipalities of Coimbra, Loures and Sintra. She has been acquired by collectors in Portugal as well as private collections around the world such as New Zealand, Germany, the Philippines and New York.
The artist is represented by the gallery Carrasco, Madrid, Spain.
